Misc ramblings

It is Sunday morning and all my kids are in the living room playing guitar hero...this is what life is about having your family together just hanging out. This is why I get up at 5:00 am every morning and go to work. So, I can cherish these days with the people who I love. My awesome wife is preaching tonight; and I am excited to hear the word God has downloaded into her.

I wrote a letter to a young man yesterday, who once again is setting in a prison cell as I wrote this letter, I struggled with the context of the letter wanting to offer hope, but desperately moving the conversation back to the importance of embracing the cross and what it means to his life. You see the hope and the cross can never be separated, because the redemptive power that Jesus offers in our lives is found on the cross. Why is it we want the crown, but not the cross? I am sorry, but that's not how it works. You can't have one without the other. I just pray that this young man will run boldly to the cross and embrace the transforming power it will give his life; then and only then will he receive the crown!

Amen

God of All

Is God of all?

What an intriguing age old question as Christians we love to tell people mostly nonbelievers how God numbers my steps each and everyday. Wow! Liar!...ok, maybe I am being a little hard here, but the truth is we must be true authentic people each and everyday of our lives. Yes, I strive to become more like Christ and I will continue to do so for as long as I am walking the earth in this flesh suit. If we as believers are to reach those that are starving, we must look similar but not the same.“Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.”- Luke 9:23-24

Will I die to this flesh suit....will I conform or be transformed.  These are questions that are posed to us daily and those people we so desperately want to reach are watching us make these decisions. God break me, and kill the ugliness that resides in my heart, give me a heart that sees people the way you see people...not through the glass of judgement...but as a wonderful work of the King of Kings.

May I rest in your arms Father God.

What does it all mean?

Hello,

I write this with a heart that is laboring to make sense of it all. Earlier this week I stood over a hospital bed watching the life slip out of a 23 year old boy. This young man had spent most of his young life battling drugs, poverty and the unescapable reality of a beast that he had no idea that was predicating his every move. What a life! to live every waking moment in fear and with the unquenchable thirst of chasing that ever illusive next "great high". When does it stop? What does it take to bring a community to its knees? When will people understand that the wages of SIN is death that is not negotiable! Awake and go! the enemy does not sleep and neither can we.
